Lil BUB is one of Instagram’s most popular feline faces and has appeared on talk shows, the front page of Reddit, and became the star of a Vice documentary. She has helped raise over $300,000 for fellow animals in need. But before she rose to stardom, BUB had a rough start.
According to her website, she was discovered as the runt of a feral litter in rural Indiana back in 2011. She was only a few weeks old when she was taken in as a rescue since it was apparent that she needed special care.
She has a number of genetic abnormalities including dwarfism, extra toes, and big, bulging eyes. She’s a “perma-kitten,” meaning she will retain her kitten-like features even when she gets old.
Despite her unusual looks, her abnormalities became her asset and today, BUB has over 2 million followers on Instagram always looking forward to her daily adventures.
