Working a full-time job when you have a dog at home can be a struggle. Unless the place where you work is fine with you bringing your pet, you’ll have to come up with another solution to keep your pet happy and entertained while you’re away for 8+ hours every day.
No matter what breed your dog belongs to, chances are they want to spend as much time with you as possible. Dogs that spend 8 or more hours alone in an empty home don’t take it too well. They are social beings who have emotional needs that should be fulfilled, and they get that from humans.
Dogs that are younger than 18 months simply shouldn’t be left alone for hours on end. For older dogs, the rule is not so strict, but know that your dog won’t be too happy they are spending day after day alone. If your job requires your full-time commitment and you still want a dog, consider hiring a sitter or walker to spend at least some time with them. If you can bring your dog to work, definitely do that. Dog daycare is another good option.
