Being kennel neighbors at animal shelter Benton Franklin Humane Society in Kennewick, Washington, helped two German Shepherds named Bruno and Ollie to develop a special bond. Now, the two dogs will have an opportunity to develop that bond even further, thanks to the fact they were adopted by the same family.
Julie Saraceno, the dog walker at Benton Franklin Humane Society, recently documented Bruno and Ollie’s story in a couple of viral videos shared on TikTok.
Bruno has been a shelter dog for 280 days, while Ollie was in the shelter for 537 days. They spent “months” being kennel neighbors and, during that time, would often play together.
One day, a family arrived at the shelter, wanting to adopt a dog. They only meant to get one, but seeing two German shepherds next to each other made them change their mind. The family wanted to see the two dogs interacting and was immediately blown away by the connection, so they decided to take both.
It didn’t take long for Bruno and Ollie to get comfortable in their new home. Helping each other settle, the pair, renamed Poncho and Pretzel, is now thriving and living their best life as siblings.
