U.S. Coast Guard Saves Dog After He Fell off a Cliff and Reunites Him with His Family

The U.S. Coast Guard recently shared a clip of a successful mission that saw them rescuing a dog who fell off a cliff and reuniting him with his family.

An adorable golden retriever named Leo was enjoying a New Year’s Day in Ecola State Park near Cannon Beach, Oregon when he fell off a 300-ft cliff. His humans called the U.S. Coast Guard for help, and their team immediately responded.

“The aircrew quickly sprang into action and flew an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter to the scene,” the U.S. Coast Guard wrote in a caption of the rescue clip. “They successfully rescued the pup and reunited him with his owners.”

The video shared on Coast Guard’s social media shows the full rescue mission and the moment when Leo and his humans see each other again.

After being rescued and brought back to his owners, Leo had to spend the night at an emergency veterinarian station. Luckily, this was only out of precaution because the dog ended up with just a few cuts and bruises.

“All things considered, he is doing good. We are so thankful he is alive and expected to recover,” Leo’s owner shared in an update.
