The Guinea Pig Festival is an event held across Peru, in many cities and villages around the country. The National Guinea Pig Day is celebrated on the second Friday of October but the celebration actually lasts for months, between July and November.
In every city/village, there is a “beauty contest” for choosing the biggest and best-dressed rodents.
Over the years, the pet owners are only becoming more and more creative. It’s not rare to see the rodents dressed as dancers, queens, pop culture personalities, etc.
