Alpacas are truly wonderful creatures, and Vicky Gatzweiler loves them so much that she decided to spend every day around them. She’s living her best life on a farm in Essen, Germany with her husband and kids, and they share their home with more alpacas than you can count.
Gatzweiler moved to a farm with her husband Julian a few years ago, and it took her a while to adjust to her new life. Her husband felt right at home because he grew up on a farm, but Gatzweiler only started finding her footing when three alpacas named Alfi, Willi, and Fritz walked into their life.
Gatzweiler was a huge animal lover from a young age and took care of rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and birds in her small room when she was a kid. Despite her endless love for animals, she never considered living with alpacas until attending an animal market with her husband.
After stumbling upon alpacas, they joked how funny it would be to have them on a farm, but realized that wasn’t such a silly idea after all. After doing some research, they figured out alpacas are pretty easy to care for and they could help them chase away foxes, so they decided to welcome Willi, Alfi, and Fritz into their home.
Gatzweiler eventually started an Instagram page @alpakamomente to share their shenanigans with the world, and they’re now followed by over 100,000 people.
