Vuvu Ceramics’ Deana Coveney is Making Nature-Inspired Botanical Art

Ceramic art can take many different shapes and forms, but Deana Coveney wanted her creations to be a love letter to the natural world. She’s the mastermind behind Vuvu Ceramics, and he enjoys evoking the feeling of forest magic through her botanical creations.

Coveney has been working with clay for over 30 years, and she experimented with many different techniques during that time. All of her pieces are hand-made from start to finish, and she wants them to capture small worlds that have the power to bring joy to everyone who holds them.

“I’m inspired by nature and the artistry in every leaf and flower. My work celebrates the garden and has a storybook aesthetic with cute fox, owl, and frog figurines adorning my ceramic pieces—they bring a feeling of forest magic and perhaps a little mischief to make you smile,” she explains on her official website.

Coveney doesn’t use any molds in her work, but she’s no stranger to pressing leaves and flowers into clay, finding the perfect balance between nature and craftsmanship along the way. When she’s not using elements taken directly from nature, she enjoys creating them on her own, molding together tiny birds, insects, and woodland creatures to make her ceramics even more magical.
