The 2024 Paris Olympics recently inspired one pet owner to test out the athleticism of their cat with an Olympic rings-themed obstacle. And, of course, the cat, whose name is Calvin, delivered a gold medal-worthy performance.
In a video, which was viewed close to 15 million times, Calvin is presented with an Olympic ring installation blocking the door. Each time he passed through the Olympic Rings or simply jumped over all five of them, his owner raised the bar.
Eventually, the Olympic rings bar was raised so high that it seemed like it would be impossible for Calvin to make the jump. But the cat just took a few seconds to measure rings and then made a graciously-looking leap that saw him go straight through the middle ring without breaking a sweat.
“Did you know there was once an Olympic standing high jump event? From 1900 to 1912, athletes would leap with no run-up and both feet together. Calvin would like to petition to bring it back and snag that gold!, “Calvin’s owner wrote in the caption of the video.
Calvin ended up earning a lot of praise from Instagram users while making his specie proud.
“Cats are the world’s greatest athletes, prove me wrong,” one user commented.
“Cats are amazing and superior to humans in so many ways,” another added.
