Krista McLennan of Northampton University has done a research that clearly shows – cows have “best friends”

The study included pairing cows with other cows for 30 minutes at a time. Each of the cows from the experiment spent 30 minutes paired with a partner it preferred (its “best friend”) and 30 minutes with an unknown cow. The heart rates revealed interesting results.

When the cows were paired with other cows they know and love, their heart rates and stress levels were significantly lower than when they were paired with cows they didn’t know.

There you have it – a proof that cows are capable of developing friendships!
