If you haven’t heard of the fashion brand Wicker Darling, buckle up because you’re in for a wild ride under the sea! They’re making some of the quirkiest wicker bags that you’ll ever come across, and many of them just happen to be inspired by our favorite marine animals.
Wicker Darling was founded by two small, family-owned companies from the Philippines, specializing in traditional Filipino craftsmanship. Their bags were created with dopamine-dressers in mind, with a goal to bring an unexpected spark of joy to everyone who wears them.
They’re made from sustainably harvested rattan and woven by local women looking for an additional source of income while working from home.
“The weaving of every handbag is done by hand, using traditional techniques that help keep local arts and crafts traditions alive. This creates employment opportunities for people – particularly women – who live in the communities where we produce our bags and source our rattan,” reads Wicker Darling’s official website.
Wicker Darling’s bags are often shaped like animals, and they kicked things off with flamingos before moving to other species. This brand runs from Melbourne, Australia, so it doesn’t come as a shocker many of their designs are inspired by the marine world, and you’ll find bags shaped like sharks, whales, fish, dolphins, octopuses, and many other ocean dwellers on their Instagram page.
