The bird was originally discovered at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield, a reserve near Republic, Missouri, where the Battle of Wilson’s Creek took place. It was initially believed that the bald eagle was dealing with some kind of wing injury, so the rangers transported it to nearby Dickerson Park Zoo for X-ray tests.

The tests showed that the eagle didn’t have any apparent injuries that would prevent him from flying. However, they did find the remains of a raccoon in his stomach. It turned out that the bird likely swallowed a whole raccoon and became too stuffed to get off the ground.

“The eagle has been rehabilitated and released back into the park. The bird, originally reported to be injured, was found to be healthy but engorged with raccoon — in other words, too fat to fly,” it said in the post on the Facebook page of Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield.

Giraffes are the tallest animals in the world by far, with some specimens reaching up to 18 feet.  But, Brian’s video really puts their height into perspective.

The zookeeper decided to place his phone on the ground with a camera rolling and have the giraffes exit their stalls over it. This way, their long necks and legs look even more impressive and intimidating.

Apollo is well known to social media users thanks to viral videos in which he identifies objects, answers questions, and has profound interactions with his owners. Recently, Apollo became even more famous by adding a Guinness World Record to his name.

Apollo set a new record for most items identified by a parrot in three minutes by identifying 12 objects including a book, a sock, and a bug. He did it with the help of his Saint Petersburg, Florida-based owners, Dalton and Victoria Mason.

Dalton and Victoria adopted Apollo in 2020 after spotting him in a local pet store. The bird quickly showed a keen interest in learning new things, something the couple encouraged using positive reinforcement and rewards in the form of pistachios.

“He loves learning new things and applying his knowledge outside of his training environment,” Dalton and Victoria shared with Guinness World Records’ official website.

According to the couple, Apollo is a curious bird, and they let his curiosity run free by focusing on things in which he is interested.

“We teach him as much as we can naturally in day-to-day life and focus on the things Apollo wants to focus on. We believe he will learn things faster that way,” they added.
