Watch a Brave Pitbull Save a Puppy From Drowning in a Pool

Dogs are accustomed to doing heroic stuff. Anytime they see someone in trouble, their instincts kick in, and they will do what it takes to help. A recent video of a Pitbull saving a puppy from drowning is a great example of this.

The clip was captured by security cameras at the home of Brazil native Janaina Leite. It shows a 3-month-old puppy Pulma getting a bit too curious about the family pool and falling into it. Luckily for the puppy, a lifeguard was nearby and attentive to the possible dangers.

Pulma’s sibling Athena, a five-year-old Pitbull, quickly arrives at the spot and immediately starts the rescue mission. Athena jumped into the pool, grabbed Puma, and got her out of the water.

Leite was home at the time and heard the noise coming from the outside. She promptly got out to see what was happening and found Athena wrapping up her rescue mission.

“It was a big scare. [But] thanks to her, and God, Pulma was unharmed,” Leite later told The Dodo. “Athena is very affectionate and protective of her siblings. She is very special.”

According to Leite, despite Athena being an amazing lifeguard, the family plans to install some protection around the pool. This way Pulma will be safe until she learns to swim.
