Today, Jack has more than 27k followers on Instagram. Though he already passed away, his legacy lives on with a new generation of wallaby whom Fasching named “Little Jack.”
“Jack is extremely special to us and to all of his friends and followers. Jack can never be replaced or forgotten, but we have decided that there is no better way to honor him and continue his legacy than to share another generation of wallaby cuteness and antics with all of you.
Friends, meet little Jack Junior (“Junior” “Little Jack,” “JJ,” “Hey you, yah you, adorable tiny wallaby”),” Fasching wrote on Instagram.

]]>Grevy’s zebra are taller, have narrower stripes, a white belly, larger rounded ears, and a brown muzzle, compared to more common plain zebra. They are included in Africa’s most endangered large mammals and today, fewer than 2500 remain due to climate change, habitat loss, and competition with livestock.
The first ever national census of Grevy’s zebra through citizen science took place on January 31, 2016. Called the Great Grevy’s Rally (GGR) it aids GZT and their conservation partners to safeguard the future of the Grevy’s zebra.
The organization believes that the success and sustainability of Grevy’s zebra conservation is dependent on having the support of the people within its premises. That’s why they invest heavily in community outreach to empower communities to start their own responsible environmental stewardship.
One of the major threats to these gigantic animals is limited access to water. GZT manages dry season water access to alleviate the stress on Grevy’s zebra, ensuring they have access throughout the long dry season. This initiative considerably improves the chances of survival for the zebra populations in the affected areas.
You can support Grevy’s zebra conservation by giving donations through the Wildlife Conservation Network. Check out their latest updates below.

]]>When Chaser came into the lives of Pilley’s family, the retired psychologist decided to train the border collie to prove that dogs are not only smarter than we think, but capable of so much more.
Dr. Pilley trained the dog for three years, between four to five hours a day. He showed her an object, said its name around 40 times, hid it, and asked Chaser to find it. This incredible technique helped the dog learn 1,022 pronouns, with the aid of 800 cloth animal toys, 116 balls, 26 Frisbees, and several plastic objects.
According to Pilley, “play is an innate instinct for the dog and the expression of this behavior brings infinite joy to Chaser. Play not only strengthens our bond but it also builds her confidence; Chaser is a prime example, that when learning is fun, the flood gates open.”
Chaser was featured on countless national and international TV shows, capturing the hearts of dog lovers worldwide with her signature inquisitive tilt of the head.
Sadly, the beloved dog passed away on July 23, 2019. “Chaser got her wings and joined my father John Pilley. She was doing well, then a couple of weeks ago went downhill very quickly. She passed in the Pilley family home without pain, of natural causes,” the family wrote on Instagram.
The Pilley family is actively continuing Chaser’s legacy with her second book as well as a series of children’s books. “The memory of Chaser and Pilley’s accomplishments are currently being immortalized in downtown Spartanburg, SC her hometown, spearheaded by The Hub City Animal Project, with the installation of a bronze of Chaser outside the Children’s Museum in spring of 2020. Pilley’s footprints taken from a mold of his shoes, will be bronzed beside her,” according to the website.

]]>Recently, one of their female lions named Bahati, became an internet sensation after the zoo revealed that the cub was the model behind baby Simba in The Lion King live-action remake.
“BAHATI OR SIMBA?: The world’s most famous lion cub may have gotten some of his moves from our very own Bahati!” the Dallas Zoo wrote on Facebook. “When Bahati was just a month old, we provided Disney with video of her movements for their animation team to use for motion and behavior reference when designing Simba in The Lion King.”
“From walking on wobbly new legs, to licking milk droplets off of her face, we captured every moment, no matter how small,” the zoo added.
Those who have seen the film with Donald Glover and Beyoncé, might recognize Bahati when she was still young. But the cub is not so little anymore. She’s now a fully-grown, two-and-a-half-year-old lioness.
The latest Lion King movie was released last week and has grossed $564 million worldwide, becoming the 7th highest-grossing film in 2019, according to Wikipedia.

Because of their delicious and nutritious pet food, many pet owners patronized their products and soon enough, their café was featured in both local and international news agencies.
“We have made it a point to always use natural, human-grade ingredients, this will always be what separates us from everyone else. All our products are hand made from scratch, we do not use any artificial food coloring and heaps of sweet ingredients to make our treats appeal to pets. Instead, we only use natural, human grade ingredients that have an instant appeal to pets and are safe for us and them to eat.”

]]>Over the years, Beeson’s work expanded so she decided to sell her house to help finance the cost of building the first national sanctuary on a 2-acre site in Egham, Surrey. The sanctuary rapidly grew so they moved to a bigger location in Shepperton, Middlesex.
Today, the sanctuary operates 24/7 and responds immediately whenever there’s a ‘swan in distress’ call.
“At the sanctuary each injured bird is examined and, if necessary, X-rayed before going into our operating theatre – the only one of its kind in the country – where a full range of anaesthetic, oxygenation and surgical equipment is available,” according to the website.
Once a bird recovers, it is placed in one of their outdoor rehab pens. They continue to provide extra care and nutritious food until the swan is ready to return to its natural habitat.
In 2018, the Swan Sanctuary was given the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK. “We have many volunteers who give their time and effort freely to The Swan Sanctuary without expecting anything in return apart from the satisfaction of helping our wildlife.”

]]>“Since our founding, STC’s research and conservation initiatives have been instrumental in saving the Caribbean green turtle from immediate extinction, as well as raising awareness and protection for sea turtles across the globe with nearly 60 years of experience in national and international sea turtle conservation, research and educational endeavors,” according to the website.
But why should we care about sea turtles? Well, these animals have existed for over 100 million years and have traveled throughout the world’s oceans. Much can be learned about our environment by looking at sea turtles, which are considered as one of the earth’s mysterious and time-honored creatures.
Unfortunately, now they are struggling to survive mainly because of the careless things people are doing to our planet’s oceans and beaches.
You can get involved by taking simple steps such as reducing the amount of plastics and chemicals you use and raising awareness in your local area about the plight of sea turtles and other marine wildlife. You can also donate to STC and became a member. For more updates, check their website and Instagram account.
