We’ve seen Meniconi encapsulate the beauty of many different animal species through her illustrations, but she definitely has a soft spot for birds. Her drawings perfectly capture all the tiny details that make each bird species unique, putting their vibrant nature front and center.

]]>Apollo is well known to social media users thanks to viral videos in which he identifies objects, answers questions, and has profound interactions with his owners. Recently, Apollo became even more famous by adding a Guinness World Record to his name.
Apollo set a new record for most items identified by a parrot in three minutes by identifying 12 objects including a book, a sock, and a bug. He did it with the help of his Saint Petersburg, Florida-based owners, Dalton and Victoria Mason.
Dalton and Victoria adopted Apollo in 2020 after spotting him in a local pet store. The bird quickly showed a keen interest in learning new things, something the couple encouraged using positive reinforcement and rewards in the form of pistachios.
“He loves learning new things and applying his knowledge outside of his training environment,” Dalton and Victoria shared with Guinness World Records’ official website.
According to the couple, Apollo is a curious bird, and they let his curiosity run free by focusing on things in which he is interested.
“We teach him as much as we can naturally in day-to-day life and focus on the things Apollo wants to focus on. We believe he will learn things faster that way,” they added.

“Not only is it a wonderful creative outlet that produces beautiful artwork to decorate my home and give as gifts, but the process of stitching brings me such joy. I find myself getting lost in the mindful, almost meditative act of stitching,” she wrote on her Etsy page.
Her brand Bloom and Floss was born out of her love for textile art, and she’s hoping her designs will bring people joy. Her style significantly evolved over the years, and she enjoys capturing flowers, landscapes, and organic shapes full of texture and movement through her embroidery.
Birds are one of many subjects she enjoys exploring, and we’ve seen her capture the beauty of several different species. They’re not the exact replicas of their real-life contra parts but still do a great job encapsulating the vibrant spirit of these fascinating creatures.

]]>Tracie Hale is often sharing fun stories from her life on a farm via a TikTok page Windridge Farm Tales, and one of her latest involves her hen, Harriet. Shortly after she started nesting in a dog house, Hale’s dog Lucy also got pregnant, and they ended up sharing the same space.

Harriet would only leave her eggs to get some water and food, and one of her short breaks turned tragic. Lucy devoured Harriet’s eggs while she was away, but this didn’t cause any animosity between the two.
“I wasn’t mad or upset at all because Lucy has always eaten the chicken eggs. When Harriet got off of the nest, Lucy just did what any other livestock guardian dog would do,” Hale told People.
Once Lucy gave birth to the infant pack of 10 Great Pyrenees, Harriet was the first to help her out. She spends every waking moment with the puppies, like she’s their second mother, and even has a habit of sitting on them as if they were her own eggs.

]]>Steven Seagull became a pretty infamous thief in Dorset after a six-year stealing spree that saw him targeting the Lyndale Central store. Things got so drastic that the staff of this store in Wyke Regis had to put up posters urging customers to close the door behind them so Steven wouldn’t get inside.
Steven stole 30 packets of chips in the past two months alone, and the store manager Stuart Harmer had to come up with a strategy to put a stop to his stealing spree.
“[He] comes in the shop when the doors open, puts his head around the corner of the door, nicks a packet of crisps, and flies off with it… Trying to explain to the powers that be that I’ve got stock loss because of a seagull – they think it’s a joke,” Harmer told BBC.
Despite the posters, Steve’s chips-stealing mission continues, and he has a habit of banging his beak on the door to open them. Once he manages to grab the chips, Steve uses his beak to open them, and eats them in the street with his feathered friends.
