The post 4 Reasons Why Parrots are Great Pets appeared first on Our Funny Little Site.
]]>Okay, parrots can’t actually talk in a traditional way. However, they mimic the sound of human voices and can learn phrases, allowing you to have a “conversation” with your pet that isn’t one-sided. How awesome is that?
Parrots love and enjoy the company of humans. They are highly social animals, meaning that they will show you affection and be loyal to you as long as you take good care of them.
Parrots don’t require you to constantly worry about their needs. They are great self-groomers while not being overly demanding in terms of care. Parrots can be left alone in the house without worrying they will become restless and will happily chill in their cages when you are away at work.
Depending on the species, parrots can live anywhere between 10 years to 60 years. If you want a companion that will be by your side for a long time, then it doesn’t get much better than a parrot.

]]>The Lincolnshire Wildlife Park made headlines after it became a home to five swearing parrots, named Billy, Tyson, Eric, Jade, and Elsie. They shocked the staff at this wildlife park with their colorful language, and reporters from all around the world flocked to Lincolnshire to hear their impressive repertoire of swear words.
The Lincolnshire Wildlife Park officials eventually decided to separate them from the rest of the flock in an attempt to tackle their swearing problem. They spent three months in isolation before being put back on display, in the hope they’ll copy more appropriate vocabulary from the rest of the flock.
This strategy could’ve backfired horribly, but it seems to be working so far, and time will tell if it will be effective long-term.
“It’s early days still but it’s been a good start. We haven’t heard any of the really crude language. Of course, people are still walking up to the enclosure and swearing in front of the parrots, hoping they will copy the words,” the Lincolnshire Wildlife Park’s chief executive Steve Nichols told BBC.

]]>First, a few kookaburras began to visit her, and she was overjoyed. Then, as time went by, other birds started to appear. Now there is a routine when each bird arrives to say hello.
“The first birds that usually arrive are the galahs. The Maggies, magpies, do their rounds. Then the kookaburras come at the end of the day. There is a whole family, and they like to come at all very different times,” she shared in a statement for The Dodo.
As we said, all the birds were wild until one day when a bright red parrot appeared. First, he would watch Kat from the gum tree next to the balcony. Then he started to get closer and sit on the balcony, and stare through the window. And then one day he flew over to Kat’s shoulder.
“Since that point, we have become a lot closer. Rupert makes me laugh all the time. He chooses not to fly to you. He chooses to run down the balcony,” she continued. “Rupert’s girlfriend, Greta, always comes along. She is always in the background. She is a very supportive girlfriend.”

And this time my parrot is singing with me, so we’re actually making things interesting.”
Gallagher certainly made things interesting, helping his owner go viral and attract millions of views. She also recorded the cover of Neil Young’s “Needle and the Damage Done” with her parrot and explained he’s not a trained bird and simply sings when he feels like it without any preparation.

]]>“The bird had a severe wing trim, which means that the flight feathers were cut too short and too many feathers were cut,” the veterinarian said in an interview with Bored Panda. “One week later, Wei Wei came back for a microchipping procedure. The owners stated at this time that she was falling heavily to the ground and hurting her feet.”
That is when Dr. Apuli suggested giving the parrot a pair of prosthetic wings. The procedure was done seven days later where the veterinarian glued the prosthetics made out of donated feathers and toothpicks to its body. But don’t worry, the parrot slept through the whole process.
“The parrot is now living happily at her owner’s house, where she is teaching Wei Wei ‘recall training’ where the bird is trained to fly to the owner on cue,” she added.

]]>The post Facts About Lovebirds appeared first on Our Funny Little Site.
]]>What are some other interesting facts about lovebirds?
Not all lovebirds are the same. 8 out of 9 subspecies originated in Africa, while the remaining one is native to the island of Madagascar. Only three out of these 9 subspecies are suitable to be pets: Fischer’s lovebirds, black-masked lovebirds, and peach-faced lovebirds. These three subspecies, as well as the other lovebirds, are rather small, ranging from 5 to 6.5 inches, which is a lot smaller than an average parrot.
Lovebirds don’t like to be bored. When in a cage, they will make plenty of noise by eating, drinking, and singing. It’s good to let them free at least once every day to explore the room (with closed doors and windows).
Unlike other parrots, lovebirds aren’t good at mimicking speech, but they like to chatter.
