]]>The homeowner set up a number of traps in an effort to contain the animal, but it proved to be really clever and constantly managed to get away.
Finally, after a number of back and forths, the homeowner succeded in their attention and brought the animal to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota (WRC). The staff at WRC identified the animal as a red fox with a severe case of mange. Mange is a type of skin illness that is caused by parasitic mites and causes the animals to lose their fur.
After spending more than a month in the hospital, the clever red fox started recovering. It has grown back its fur and became more energetic by the day.
“Anyone could see that this fox was more than ready to return home, and so as soon as our vets were confident he no longer needed supportive care, back to the wild he went,” WRC wrote in a Facebook post while attaching a video of animal’s return to its natural habitat.

]]>Richmond Wildlife Center initially asked its social media followers to help a recently orphaned baby fox and donate “stuffed adult Fox and kit” as well as “Fox head mask.” They explained that they “want the first things she sees to be other foxes” and that this step “is critically important if we are going to get her wild.”
Richmond Wildlife Center received the required items shortly after the plea from generous donors. They immediately put them to use and shared the process with their followers. This included a video of a staffer with a fox mask feeding the orphaned baby fox and the baby fox cuddling up with a stuffed fox.
“It’s important to make sure that the orphans that are raised in captivity do not become imprinted upon or habituated to humans,” Richmond Wildlife Center explained in the caption of the video.

]]>RSPCA received a tip about an injured fox in the woods of Surrey County, England, and dispatched Fitzcosta to help the animal. Arriving on the scene, Fitzcosta saw a fox and laid down his phone in order to film the rescue.
But before he knew it, fox approached the phone, grabbed it with her mouth, and then ran away. As it turned out, this was another fox who just happened to be curious about the phone and wanted to test its videography skills.
Fox ended up leaving the phone at one point, allowing Fitzcosta to retrieve it. Once he looked it up, he realized that it was recording the whole time.
RSPCA later shared the entire video on its social media channels, and it is safe to say it was an amazing watch.
Fitzcosta ended up finding the injured fox and brought it back to Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue for treatment.
“I did find the injured fox and managed to rescue her, she is now being treated at Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue as she has an inflamed leg from an old injury. Hopefully she will make a full recovery,” Fitzcosta shared in RSPCA’s press release.

]]>Foxes are known to be great hunters, but it turns out they have one competitive advantage. According to studies, foxes can sense Earth’s magnetic field and use it to determine the distance between them and their prey. This allows them to be more accurate in their attacks.
Foxes belong to the same family of animals as dogs and wolves. But unlike them, foxes are solitary animals. They hunt alone, sleep alone, and avoid socialization most of the time.
You have probably seen videos on the internet of foxes laughing. But while it isn’t actually a laugh in the way humans do it, it is a testament to the ability of foxes to produce a range of different sounds. Some scientists estimate that foxes can produce up to 40 different sounds.
People have been known to fear foxes, but there is no need for that. While wild foxes can be dangerous, they are usually not aggressive. Their curious and playful nature makes them actually friendly, and there have been cases in which they were successfully domesticated.

]]>It’s a miracle that Fergie Fox is still alive, given her sad backstory. She was found as a baby, with her mom nowhere in sight, and the sanctuary only took her in because she was mistaken for a puppy by the person who found her.
Taking her in was tricky, according to Greener Pastures Sanctuary’s CEO Rachael because foxes are considered pest animals in Australia. She should’ve been either left alone or euthanized, but they were luckily able to take her in.
“We’re a farm animal sanctuary and never dreamed we’d find ourselves faced with foxes in need. We hate keeping animals in captivity but sadly it was the best of 2 options… We spend time with them and provide them with enrichment,” she told Bored Panda.
Fergie Fox quickly started feeling at home at the sanctuary and developed a strong bond with the owner’s daughter Phoenix. They have been close since day one and Phoenix is the only person who Fergie trusts 100%, and she even lets her play with her and carry her around.

]]>Jack, a five-year-old wheelchair-bound Westie, had a spinal tumor that prevented him from walking, but that hasn’t stopped him from becoming Pumpkin the fox’s accidental guide dog, strolling around the park and waiting for Pumpkin to catch up.
When Pumpkin hears Jack’s wheels, she follows behind him. After the walks, the two, who live in North London with their owner, Ana Lapaz-Mendez, love cuddling together.
Lapaz-Mendez, a vet, saved both animals from being put down. The vet took in one-year-old Pumpkin after finding her with two broken legs and realizing that she couldn’t take care of herself because she was blind. Jack and Pumpkin also live with fellow rescue dog Croqueta.
While the duo has a great relationship, they do get on each other’s nerves like any other siblings.
“It’s not the perfect relationship because sometimes Jack gets annoyed with her, but it’s like a brother and sister relationship. He tells Pumpkin off a lot when she needs it without hurting her, but I’m not sure how much she understands,” Lapaz-Mendez told Mirror.

Raines placed her phone on the ground to take a video of her yoga exercises and immediately noticed that one of the rescue’s residents, named Dixie, was becoming interested in the phone. She tried to warn the fox not to touch it, but it was already too late.
Dixie grabbed the phone and tried to make a run for it. The mischievous animal made several attempts to bury her treasure as well, but with Raines pursuing her, she abandoned the idea. At last, seeing that she will not be able to succeed, the fox gave up and handed the phone.
