Animal shelter Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter from Forked River, New Jersey, recently shared a heartwarming story about how an abandoned dog named Paulie found his forever home.
Paulie was abandoned by his owners in a city park in January but was fortunately discovered by the shelter’s staffers before experiencing any harm. According to the Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter’s Facebook post, this actually turned out to be “the greatest day of his life.”
After spending two months in the shelter and displaying great smartness and energy, Paulie was adopted and has been enjoying a blissful life with his new family.
“I really hit the lottery with him. I’ve had a lot of dogs in my life, but he is special. I never expected to adopt a dog that was so obedient, so mushy, he’s just an all-around great dog,” Paulie’s human said in an update shared with the shelter.
It turns out that Paulie is an outstanding pet who makes the lives of everyone around him better. He has a great relationship with his adopter’s granddaughter and even helps them in their work with senior citizens.
