Henry is the Most Famous Tortoise on Instagram

Henry is an 18-year-old sulcata tortoise with a pretty big following on Instagram – that’s not something that many tortoises have. His mom Amanda Green adopted him four years ago hoping she would temporarily foster him, but “ended up falling in love.”

“I was like, ‘If he needs a forever home, I’ll be that for him!'” Amanda shares her experience as a tortoise owner. “Henry definitely has a personality … more than I anticipated. He’s really social, he’s curious. … He’s never really in his shell. Henry will greet anyone who comes into the apartment.”

Before I brought Henry home, I started second-guessing if I really had the time and space to take care of a pet on my own. My mom insisted, "Oh, but you have to!"
