Kristaps Sils is a content creator from Latvia, who’s currently based in Ireland, Mullingar, where he lives with “the friendliest dragon in the world”—his iguana Buddy. Their videos started blowing up when Sils opened the page @lizardthebuddy on several social media platforms, including TikTok, where Buddy’s videos attracted two million followers and over 30 million views.
Some of their most popular videos show Buddy stealing his owner’s food, but you’ll find everything from his playful antics and moments of quiet companionship to useful reptile care tips on Sils’ social media profiles.
His videos capture the unique bond that can exist between humans and reptiles, and he’s hoping they’ll inspire people to see the beauty in these misunderstood creatures.
“Millions of people are shocked about me and my iguana’s relationship. I’m making videos about his life, how he’s trusting me, that reptiles can be tamed and even you can tame them to answer on command. That love can change all animals and we need to stop hurting them,” Sils explains on his Collabstr page.
