Insects Shine Brighter Than Ever in Lisilinka’s Sparkling Watercolor Paintings

Watercolor paintings have been around for centuries, but one artist from Germany found a way to put a unique, dazzling twist on them. Lisilinka specializes in sparkling watercolor art, and she’s using her special talent to present insects in the most shimmering light.

Lisi is a psychologist and self-taught artist from Hanover, Germany, who loved drawing for as long as she can remember. Her life turned upside down when she discovered watercolor painting, and she’s been honing her skills for over a decade.

Her paintings started shining brighter than ever when she decided to start using sparkling metallic accents. She developed her own technique over the years, before launching a brand that sells metallic watercolors.

We’ve seen Lisi use her colors to explore all sorts of different subjects, but nature has always been her main driving force.

“Nature and its ability to create the finest structures and bright colors is the greatest source of inspiration for my drawings. After a long walk in the countryside, I often have countless ideas for more watercolors in mind and could conjure them up on paper straight away,” she explains on her Domestika page.

Lisi enjoys using her metallic colors to capture the beauty of insects, that most people overlook. Butterflies, beetles, bees, moths, and other insects are shining brighter than ever in her paintings, in a way we’ve never seen them before.
