TikTok user Bernard Henry recently shared a video that shows his technique of teaching a baby quail to drink water. And you can bet it is adorable.
The clip shows a two-day-old baby quail standing in front of a bottle cap filled with water and getting its beak weak. At the same time, Henry is tapping the water with his finger to show the bird what it needs to do.
However, it appears that the baby quail wasn’t particularly thirsty. After a few short sips, it decides it wants cuddles and approaches Henry, who allows it to nestle in his palm.
“I always laugh when I ask if they want water, cause I know they just wanna snuggle in my hand for warmth. I swear they do in fact drink. This little one hatched two days earlier than the rest of his siblings! He won’t necessarily need water for another 2-3 days, but I just like to try and teach them how to drink in the meantime,” Henry wrote in caption of the video.
After hatching, baby quails are unable to see, hear, or stand on their own. However, as you notice in Henry’s video, they quickly become independent. After just a day or two, they are capable of following their mother’s pace. During the next two weeks, they learn how to eat and drink water, at which point they are already independent. But yes, even then, they are the cutest thing ever.
