Viral Video Shows How You Can Teach Your Dog to Play a Piano

Dogs are great at learning new tricks and skills. But while most dog owners settle for teaching their canines to fetch the ball, sit on command, or do a roll, a recent viral video shared on Instagram shows that dogs are capable of much more.

A dog owner named Ted recently decided to teach his Labrador Ruby how to play the piano. His method is quite simple, and anyone can replicate it.

Ted first took a piece of cardboard and placed it in front of Ruby to sniff it. Each time Ruby would touch the cardboard with her nose, she was rewarded with a treat.

Next, Ted places the cardboard piece into a box and teaches Ruby to target the piece. He attaches the box to piano keys and starts playing a composition by Sergei Rachmaninoff, with Ruby playing alongside him by touching the cardboard piece in the box at her owner’s command.

The video ended up receiving 166K likes and impressed Instagram users.

“This dog plays the piano better than me! Maybe I should look for a dog handler for my music lessons?” one user wrote in the comments section.

Some users even decided to use the idea for their dogs.

“So clever. I’m teaching this to Gina,” another user commented.
