This Organization is Dedicated to the Conservation of All Penguin Species

“The Global Penguin Society (GPS) is an internationally recognized leader organization dedicated to the conservation of penguin species, the coasts and the oceans they inhabit,” according to their website.

It’s the first and only international organization committed exclusively to the conservation of the world’s 18 penguin species and their habitats. The group collaborates with government, community, and landowners to create effective conservation policies that benefit not just penguins, but the entire local ecosystems.

In order to guide conservation actions, GPS improves scientific knowledge on important aspects of the biology and ecology of penguins. They also promote a “conservation culture,” by raising public awareness about these aquatic flightless birds.

To date, around 8 million acres of marine and coastal areas are protected and 1.6 million penguins have benefited by the improved management and implementation. Through their educational program, 6000 kids have visited penguin colonies and their social media followers are constantly growing in numbers.
