Rio & Tweety Will Make You Fall in Love with Indian Ringneck Parrots

The list of different species of parrots is pretty much endless, and it’s always fun to get introduced to new ones. If you’re not familiar with Indian ringnecks, get ready to meet Rio & Tweety, a chirpy parrot duo from Croatia.

Rio & Tweety live with their owner in the tiny European country of Croatia, and they were clearly named after two famous fictional birds. Tweety borrows its name from the iconic Looney Tunes hero, which was actually a yellow canary and not a parrot. Rio is most likely named after the 2011 animated film Rio about exotic birds, including a Spix’s macaw named Blue.

Rio and Tweety are both unique in their own right, but that’s not stopping them from being an amazing duo. The vibrant color of their feathers is their main similarity, but it comes in different hues—Tweety is an adorable yellow bird, just like its name suggests, while Rio will win you over with its eye-catching blue feathers.

If you’ve fallen in love with Tweety and Rio, you’ll be happy to hear that Indian ringneck parrots, commonly known as rose-ringed parakeets, are a pretty popular pet bread. Their diet mostly consists of seeds, nuts, fruits, and berries, so they’re easy to take care of, as long as you keep them at home so they wouldn’t become prey to native predatory birds.
