Tennessee Animal Shelter Reunites Homeless Woman With Her Beloved Dog

When a homeless Tennessee woman left her dog Lilo behind because she could no longer afford to take care of her, she feared she’d never see her again. They were lucky enough to get reunited after a Tennessee animal shelter posted an emotional plea online, asking  Lilo’s owner to come back.

Lilo was wandering the streets of Chattanooga before being taken to McKamey Animal Center and the volunteers immediately noticed a note attached to her neck. Lilo’s owner explained she was homeless with two kids, and could no longer afford to take care of her after trying her best for too long.

McKamey Animal Center posted the photo of the pup and directed it “to Lilo’s mom”, in the hope these words would eventually reach her:

“If you are reading this, we hope you will come forward to reclaim her. We will help you with whatever you need to care for her, to the best of our ability. Lilo definitely misses you, and we would like nothing more than to see her go back to the family she loves.”

Shortly after the Facebook post went viral, Lilo’s mom came to McKamey Animal Center, where she was reunited with her beloved pup. The animal center shared the photo of the two without revealing the woman’s identity and added that they’re working with the family to set them up with a shelter and resources to stay together and tackle homelessness.
