When Bazel came to Camp Cocker Rescue he was in a terrible condition. The eight-year-old male cocker spaniel has been neglected for years, so Cathy Lopez together with three other volunteers gave him a big makeover.
“We had to sedate him because the mats were so close to the skin that in order to shave him it would have been painful. It probably took us about maybe two and a half, three hours to completely get all the mats off. I think he was pretty relieved. Living with all those mats, for years, must have been really uncomfortable,” Lopez told The Dodo and added that his mats weighed 5.4 pounds.
Bazel is currently waiting for his forever home and according to the Rescue he doesn’t tolerate other dogs or cats, so he needs to be the only animal in the home.
