Wintertime is creeping up, and you are probably ready for it, but your pet might not be. Luckily, there is a lot that you can do to keep your pet safe during winter, especially if you follow these tips.

Don’t Let Them Spend Much Time Outdoors

Your pet will likely want to get some fresh air, but don’t let them spend too much time outdoors. They might not be too good at understanding their limits and could catch a cold before you know it.

Clean Their Paws Regularly

All the salt and chemicals used to keep the roads and streets clean can easily get stuck on your pet’s paws. Then, when you come home, they will lick it and might get poisoned. To avoid this, make sure to clean their paws with a damp towel as soon as you enter the house.

Keep Them Away from Heaters

Your pet will probably rush to get as close to the heater as it can in order to enjoy the warm feeling. However, you shouldn’t allow this because heaters can easily burn their fur and skin, or they can knock it over and create a potentially dangerous situation.

Groom Their Coat and Skin

Make sure that your pet’s coat and skin are well maintained. As soon as they come in from the outside, clean all the dirt or snow off of them and pat them dry. Also, keep the bathing at a minimum to avoid their coat and skin from trying out.
