Cat Hides in a Box and Gets Accidentally Shipped From Utah to California

We know that cats love boxes. The enclosed space gives them safety and warmth while hiding element plays to their nature as predators. But sometimes, their habit of getting in every box they see can come back to bite them, as an adorable feline named Galena recently found out.

Facebook user Brandy Hunter recently shared a viral story about how Galena was accidentally shipped from her home in Utah all the way to an Amazon warehouse in Riverside, California, after hiding in a box.

Earlier in April, Hunter, who works for Amazon, received a call from one of her coworkers who notified her about a live cat that was found in one of the boxes that were sent to the customer returns department. Hunter took it upon herself to take care of the cat, giving her food and water after the feline spent at least seven days inside the box, according to her estimations.

The next morning, Hunter took the cat to the veterinarian, who discovered that she was microchipped. After contacting the feline’s owners, Hunter discovered that they had been desperately looking for Galena and resorted to missing cat posters by then.

“This has turned out to be exactly what I hoped it was, an unfortunate but totally accidental case of the baby jumped in the box to play and they didn’t notice her there when they closed it and she didn’t make a sound, so they didn’t know she was in there,” Hunter shared in a Facebook post.

Galena underwent further check that showed she is in great condition considering what she’s been through while her owners ended up taking the flight to California in order to pick her up.

“Thankfully, this story has a happy ending and Galena is on her way home to Utah with her human parents and the rest of the family is at home, anxiously awaiting the arrival of this amazing miracle of a cat!!” Hunter added.
